This includes but is not limited to: tuition, textbooks, library materials, yearbook ads, lunchroom charges, etc. Please handle these issues before Friday, 5/25.

*All Parents: You are also reminded that report cards and transcripts cannot be released until all debts are paid. We must collect our outstanding revenue in order to continue to function.

Saying Goodbye

In 1997 I applied for the teaching position at Chambers Academy because a friend had set it up for me. I had no intention of accepting the job but have absolutely no regrets for having done so. In the years since, I have been very privileged to work with some of the finest people: faculty and staff, parents and students. CA does a great job as evidenced by the quality of education my own granddaughters have received.

It is my fervent hope that I have done a good job in teaching all my students – current and former – and that I have helped to provide a good, strong foundation for their futures. It has also been gratifying to see former students return to CA as faculty and I wish them well.

My deepest thanks go to all those who have helped me in any way over the years, especially during my surgeries and treatments. I am very grateful for the cards, gifts, good wishes, and substitutes in my classes. Thanks, Mrs. Richardson, for the use of the rocking chair. Thanks to those parents who have been supportive; working together definitely helped your children. Special thanks to the lunchroom ladies who kept us well-fed and provided humor during the day.

Many thanks also to the faculty and staff for the great dinner. It was a very nice and enjoyable send-off. It is with mixed feelings that I leave but CA will always be in my heart and I will miss everyone.

Free Puppies!

I have five short-legged German shepherd puppies to give away! There are four males and one female. Two are spotted and three are mostly black. They are nine weeks old now and ready for some summer fun!

Washington, D.C. Trip

Just a reminder that there will be a meeting on Thursday, May 10, after PTO.

We will meet in Mrs. Richardson’s room.  If you are not able to attend, but are interested in details, please see Mrs. Richardson for registration information. Remember:  The more we have go, the less we have to pay.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

Headmaster’s Report

Mrs. Taylor and her yearbook staff have advised that the books are here.  A signing session has been planned for Thursday, the 3rd, during 7th period.  Many thanks are extended to Mrs. Taylor for taking on this project each year.

Parents are urged to attend our high school awards program on Tuesday, May 15, at 10:00 in the gym.  This is our opportunity to recognize many students for a wide variety of academic and extra curricular achievements during the year.

Miss Jane and her Drama Team are preparing daily for their spring performance, “Imperfect Proposal.”  The performance will be Friday, May 18, at 7:00 in the gym.  Miss Jane always has her group prepared to the cutting edge.  Don’t miss this year’s performance.

The entire CA Family is invited to join the class of 2012 on Sunday, May 20, for their Baccalaureate service.  The First Baptist Church has again graciously invited us to share this special event in the lives of our graduates with them.  Our school chaplain and the youth director at First Baptist will deliver our message.  The service will begin at 6:00pm.

Parents are urged to check with their students to see that all tests are made up, homework is turned in, and projects are complete.  The time to turn in late academic work is almost over.

Parents are also reminded that no report cards, transcripts, or other records may be released until all financial obligations for the 2011-2012 school year have been met.  This includes lunchroom charges, library books, textbooks, tuition, fees, etc…

Congratulations are extended to Autumn White, Erin Hughes, and Skye Walker, 11th grade young ladies selected by the faculty to attend Girls State.  Further congratulations to Erin Hughes who was selected from the three to actually attend Girls State.  It is unfortunate that schools our size are restricted to one girl since we have such a talented group of young ladies in the 11th grade.

Congratulations are also extended to Russ Whaley and Justin Brown, who where selected by the faculty to attend Boys State.
There is no restriction on the number of boys sent to Boys State, so both Russ and Justin will represent us this summer.

We are all aware that we need numbers of students in order to continue our current level of academic offerings and our athletic offerings.  We are all responsible for the future of our school.  Please look for and recruit students in need of a school home.  Remember that the first time student discount is still in effect.

2013 Washington, D.C. Trip

Let’s go to Washington, D.C.!  This is a wonderful opportunity to see our history and government in action.  The trip will be in May, 2013, and open to students in this year’s fifth through seventh grades.  There will be a meeting for students and their parents on Thursday, May 10 after PTO in Mrs. Richardson’s room.  Come hear all that is included, payment options, and all that we will see and do.  Talk with students who have been in the past and see what fun we have!  The more students we have, the lower the price.  Parents are welcome to go!

In other news, Kindergarten parents please remember that Friday, May 4th is our deadline for the graduation slideshow. If you have any pictures you would like in the slideshow, please send them to Mandy Cain by Friday. Also, please send $7 to cover the cost of our End of the Year Party on May 22nd at Abby’s house!

Headmaster’s Report

Parents, please encourage your students to be certain all academic work (tests, projects, homework, etc.) is caught up.  As of today, only 21 school days remain in our school year.  Please review the “Coming Attractions” listed in the printed Rebel News.  You can easily see how busy the last few days of school have become.

Parents, you should have the 4th nine weeks progress reports in todays’ work.  Please review and return to the homeroom teacher ASAP.  The next formal grade report will be the final report card available at the school office on Wednesday, May 30.

The second of two horseshows sponsored by CA will be held Saturday at the Buffalo arena.  Proceeds from these shows are used to support our AR reading program.  Not only do we have access to the wide array of AR titles, but our funds are also used to upgrade computers, monitors, etc.  Your support of the horseshows is support for academics at CA.

Congratulations to the CA baseball team for their strong finish.  The season ended with the Rebels holding a 7-9 record on a 5 game winning streak.  Hopefully this establishes the groundwork for continued improvement in our baseball  program.

The CA athletic year will end this weekend as our Lady Rebels softball team travels to Springwood Thursday and Macon East on Friday.  Please support our ladies as they close out the season on a positive note.

Don’t forget that Friday will be CA Field Day.  Students should dress for fun and frolic BUT be modest in the selection of shorts and shirts.  “Daisy Dukes” and revealing shirts will not be allowed.  The lunchroom will not be serving Friday, so bring money to feast on hotdogs, hamburgers, and those outstanding pork and chicken kabobs.

We will host the Yarbrough Educational Snake Show on Wednesday, May 2, at 1:00 in the gym.  This show is almost a “rite of passage” for seniors to sack up the python.  To help defray the cost of the show, we ask that all students contribute $1.00 toward the program cost.

Fourth Grade

Our lone “County Spelling Bee Winner” was Joann.  Way to Go!!

Peyton’s Pals Week will be ending on Friday.  Don’t miss out on the items being sold each morning.  The Raffle Tickets will be drawn on Friday morning before Field Day.  DON’T MISS OUT ON THE DRAWING!! There are A LOT  of prizes to be given away.   Something for all ages and more coming in each day. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each. You can’t beat the price.
